Bye bye 2010

It's been a great year... and I'm riding the year end out with a non-stop light fever...

W00t!

I've even infected the puppy with it!

Double w00t! :P

Well, as I told him earlier in the day, what's the worst that can happen?

We'll just wait for the fireworks

Happy New Year y'all!!!

What's your dream car?

I had a conversation with someone today and hearing that she's quite the gearhead, I asked her what her dream car was...

She casually said "LP640 Versace Edition." and flashed me a wink.

See... ask any other regular girl and I believe you'll be faced with a lot of... more cosmetic choices instead of performance.

Personally, I would've chosen a Reventon (but mostly because I like the name... I'm not really a Lamborghini fan to begin with)

Now, the beauty of the LP640 Versace Edition is that there are only 20 in the world. First revealed at the Paris 2006 Motor Show, these little babies feature a two-tone black and white trim with custom Versace leather on the interior and of course let's not forget the Gianni Versace logo :)

So yeah, it's a powerful car PLUS it looks sexy!

So that got me thinking, what is my dream car?

I've listed down three.

1. Mazda Miata aka MX-5

This little baby is one of the world's best selling roadsters, and can you blame it? Look at how sleek and HAPPY it is!

It's a front engine, rear wheel drive with a lightweight concept makes handling a dream and superb for drifting.

This version I have here is the MX-5 Black and Matte Special Edition in celebration of the Miata's 20th anniversary of being in the French Market.

2. Infiniti G35

This is my second choice of a dream car. I know, there are newer versions but this is the one that I think is sleekest. Also a front engine, rear view drive... this serves more as a family/daily car that I'd like to drive around. And yes, the coupe not the sedan.

3. TVR Chimaera

Last but not least, I had recently discovered the joy of the TVRs... and the Chimaera in particular. As you can see my taste in cars are very similar in terms of looks as well as performance and handling. And unfortunately discontinued :P

bling bling

So another cousin broke the news, her boyfriend popped the question during the Christmas holidays...

So I have two weddings to attend next year... two who btw are younger than me :P no, no that's not resentment or bitterness, just a dash of disbelief, really...

But do I wish it was my turn? Oh of course... which girl doesn't?

When it's my turn, it won't be a big do. Much as I am a romantic, a big hoo-hah is just too much work and too much effort for a party - yes, P-A-R-T-Y. You heard right. Because to me, it's the marriage... not the wedding.

For all you know, I might just have a super simple ceremony with immediate family only - then break the news to the rest.

Until then... I'll just keep focusing on the big picture :) we've got A LOT ahead of us!

Christmas Eve Dinner

Went over to the puppy's for Christmas Eve dinner and same as every year, I head over there in the arvo to help out

So the bunny and big bro toiled over peeling, chopping, slicing and dicing......

The extra tough pumpkin that took me forever to slice.... even Mr Kitchen man took his tools off to a corner to hide!

Anyways, as I was saying, while we were toiling away, the puppy was doing this O_o

(Clockwise Top L-R: Stuffed turkey with bacon strips, honey glazed ham with pineapples, pigs in a blanket and oven roasted brussel sprouts with beets)

The whole works. A table for fourteen!

Someone picked this up and said 'OMG you have a Jewish drink???'

Anne who showed us a magic trick earlier decided to test out our IQs. Needless to say, we ALL failed miserably :P

And right after that.... SCRABBLE time!!! iStyle :P

Look at the amount of Apple products these people have

Even the dogs were bloody content after the whole meal!

Merry Christmas everybody!!!

Shepherd's Pie : FAIL! Christmas Party : HELL YEAH!!!!

Had the team Christmas lunch at Delicious, 1 Utama today. Everyone was going with the pastas and I thought, okay let's see how their Shepherd's Pie fares...

FAIL.

1. The mash potato top with cheese was soft and sticky.
2. The meat inside was all soupy.
3. It was a tad over cooked.

Bleh

On the other hand... it was a pretty good lunch. My editor had this Q&A sesh (trivia about the magazine) and if you got them right, you'll score some pretty cool gifts!

Rachel (Advertising Manager) scored the first gift - OPI Bring on the bling laquer with matching 2-in-1 lip gloss

Janice (Sales & Marketing Executive) got Yves Rocher Olive Oil cream

Serena (Sub-editor) got a combo pack with La Mer!!! SO NOT FAIR *hmmph*

This is my combo pack of Anna Sui, Sothys, GA, and Body Shop cosmetics :)

Janice & I teamed up to get this OPI Burlesque set... w00t! I took the two red-ish ones because she didn't like them...

And a Chanel blush...

I want to be a living work of art...

Okay see... working in a women's magazine has definitely got its perks! First of all, not only do I get free products (fine, most of the time they're samples, but still....); reading gossip online is "research" and last but not least, I LOVE DRESSES!!!

Look at these Marchesa gowns!!! *swoon*

Baby Cherrie

Look how grown up she looks now! I still can't believe that my cousin Nick has a kid... and you know what's so funny about that? She looks EXACTLY like him as a baby!

Happy birthday Starbucks!!!

In conjunction with their 12th anniversary, and as a token Starbucks gave away free cups of freshly brewed coffee.

There was also this little donation bag at the cashier - for the life of me I can't remember what it was for... but since I was getting a free cup of coffee... might as well do some charity :)

You can't fight the tears that ain't coming

I'm pretty sure every other person says this, but I really love this song. Every time I hear it, I feel this sort of connection and emotions that I can't explain.

Goo Goo Dolls - Iris

And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now

And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
'Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't wnat to miss you tonight

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of trut in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just wnat you to know who I am

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am

May

may the sun
bring you new energy by day

may the moon
softly restore you by night

may the rain
wash away your worries

may the breeze
blow new strength into your being

may you walk
gently through the world and know its beauty all the days of your life

Okay, you're married.

Read this about the Deppster today... Why Johnny won't marry the mother of his children.

Johnny Depp has been in a relationship with Vanessa Paradis since 1998, they've got two kids together - but Johnny's in no rush to put a ring on it.

Why? The 47-year-old just doesn't think Vanessa Depp has the same ring to it.

He said, "I'd be so scared of ruining her last name. She's got such a good last name."

After all this time, Johnny explained he already feels like he's married to the 37-year-old stunner, though he'd definitely get hitched if Vanessa wanted to.

"I never found myself needing that piece of paper," he said. "Marriage is really from soul to soul, heart to heart. You don't need somebody to say okay you're married."

I agree with the Deppster, marriage these days are so overrated, and to many people, dismissible - like a meal gone wrong or a shoe that doesn't fit any more. What happened to the sanctity of marriage?

Marriage is about a relationship that you share with the one you love, and want to share the rest of your life with. Marriage is about compromise. Marriage is about sacrifice. Marriage is knowing it in the depths of your hearts even without it having said or written.

So yeah, marriage is not about a piece of paper. But I'm a romantic and a traditionalist... I'd still like to have it at the end of the day :P

over reacting

I know it's about them and I know mom misses dad, but it just creeps me out when mom tells me stuff about them, you know.
Like today when she was waiting for an appointment, she texted me to remind me about something and ended the text with "oh and I had a lovely dream of Papa & I."
I'm pretty sure it's nothing explicit but it's just... EWWW I don't need to know you had a lovely dream about my dad.......
I'm feeling pretty creeped out right now. I know, I know, I'm over reacting over something tiny... but hey, I wouldn't be me if I wasn't :P
Happy monday, peeps!

never let your guard down

I realized that I have this curse of never being able to let my guard down, because the moment that happens... shit hits the ceiling...
I'm not just talking about my personal life but also my professional life... bah...

no kids?

Watching Season 3 of Giuliana & Bill on telly yesterday evening, we saw that trying to conceive was really important for the both of them.

I was thinking to myself that maybe it's just not the right time for them, I mean, God does work in mysterious ways and if it's not happening, don't force it.

Then at one point, Giuliana cries as she speaks with the therapist, "It makes me wonder what did we do wrong? Why are we being punished?"

That's when the puppy (who was playing games on his iPhone) comments out loud "Why do you want babies to begin with?"

I'm speechless... and I don't know what to think now....

catch up

I just had a catch up meeting with my editor... apparently I rock in every department except writing.

Apparently my grammer sucks and my style is too corporate, so I'll need to change that.

Bleh.

Happy Monday everyone.

My new recyclable bag!!!

Working in media has got to have its own perks... I get quite a fair bit of stuff to try out and this is one of them!

I have one other recyclable bag which I got from a BMW launch (that was courtesy of the puppy though) and it's made of parachute material from Onya Bags and it's super convenient because it folds nicely and fits quite neatly into your palm.

But yeah, I've been trying to use my own shopping bags since about 2005 and to tell you the truth it's been really difficult at first. So I can't begin to tell you how excited I am that so many places now realize the importance of using recyclable shopping bags. If only they do it on a daily basis.

Anyways, enough about my bags and recycling efforts. Let's talk about envirosax!

It's a really compact foldable bag with cool designs. Plus it's lightweight, water proof and supposedly can hold the same weight as 2 regular plastic shopping bags.

Isn't it just super duper pretty??? :)

They have a huge range of designs for adults and even cute kiddie ones... check them out here. You know what the great part is? It costs only RM25.90 each! I mean think about it, if you use a plastic bag each Saturday you go shopping, it can max out to RM1 per trip.... and in less than half a year, not only do you hit the same amount but imagine the amount of plastic bags you would've used?

Can't wait to use this little baby! And yeah if you see some girl carrying this bag around, you'll know it's me!

歌舞伎 の着物

The pup and I went to a Kabuki Kimono exhibition at Isetan, KLCC today.

Kabuki stands for sing (歌), dance (舞), and skill (伎) which features the art of singing and dancing is known for its avant garde-ness and elaborate make up.

They featured 22 great authentic costumes worn by some of the greatest actors from the Meiji era (明治時代) to the Showa era (昭和時代).

Some names of these grand kimonos will be romanized as I have no frickin' idea on how to type it out.... I've done as much as I can so, if there's anyone who can help me, お願いしますよ!

助六由縁江戸桜 (Sukeroku yukari no Edo zakura) or Sukeroku: The Flower of Edo.

Look how elaborate they are!

Also from Sukeroku, this is Ukonsyusu botankujakusoshisyu keiseikake.

Worn by a lady in the role of 白玉 (shiratama)
Murasakihonjusu kusudamachirashishisyu keiseisake
紫本珠子 薬玉散し刺。。。 (this is as far as I can go :P)

Worn in the role of 意休 (Ikyu) by 7世松本幸四郎 (Matsumoto Koshiro the 7th)
Kurojusuji ryusyokkososhisyu kitsukehaori
黒珠子地龍。。。

Worn in the female role of 花子 (Hanako) in 京鹿子娘道成寺 (Kyokanoko Musume Dojoji)
Kurorinzuji shidarezakura ni odamakinui furisodekitsuke
I'm not even going to attempt this

Another one from 京鹿子娘道成寺 for 花子 's character worn by 6世尾上菊五郎 (Onoye Kikugoro the 6th)

This has got to be my favorite. I just love black kimonos because it makes all the details really "POP" out.

Worn for the character 岩藤 (Iwafuji) in 加賀見山旧錦絵 (Kagamiyama kokyono nishikie) by 5世中村歌右衛門 (Nakamura Utaemon the 5th)
Kuromonrinzu fujishisyu uchikake
黒紋綸子藤刺裲襠

Last but not least - I call this Tiger Stripes :P

Worn in 天竺徳兵衛韓噺 (Tenjikutokubei ikoku banashi) for the character 天竺徳兵衛韓of (Tenjikutokubei)
Kinshikumotatewakunamishishyu yoten
金糸雲立涌。。。
