Wishlist 2014

So... I didn't come up with a wishlist in the last two years... partly because of procrastination :P

Looking back, my first wishlist included a mezzaluna, a netbook, shopping vouchers, dresses, boots and flight tickets. My second wishlist included VS body care products, a bunny outfit and a hand held blender. My third wishlist asked for a new digicam, VS body care products and dresses.

Then I realized, I've gotten pretty much everything on my wishlists - a Nigella Lawson mezzaluna, a HP Mini, dresses (I assure you this will be on going), two pairs of boots (one from Zara and the other from F21 - both were on sale), VS opened up in KL so I have my neverending supply, bunny outfit, handheld blender (which comes with a bunch of other whizzy thingamajiggies).

The only ones that are missing are free flight tickets and a new camera. So then I thought long and hard... what else do I want?

Product Image

1. MacBook Pro.
I learnt from Pandora (my HP Mini) that netbooks are not the way to go. My rationale at that point was that I don't really use everything else on my previous laptop, which is why I thought it would make sense to go for a netbook.

Not entirely wrong... but netbooks (or at least mine) lags after a while. Then my battery died. So now I almost never use it.

But I'm a little on the fence with this because I don't know if I will actually be utilizing it or just getting it for the sake of getting it... Let me know what you think?

2. These awesome winged and heeled sneakers by Jeremy Scott for Adidas
I know, it looks a tad off. I was kinda laughing at it myself when I saw it because it didn't really make sense at that point. But I slide my foot in... and stepped up... SOLD! Now if only it's not that expensive!!!

3. Own a Shiba Inu
Well okay maybe not in 2014 but in the near future. I want one of these fellas. SCHOOO CUTE, I'll die of squealing.

4. Meet a sloth
And now why wouldn't any one? Hehehe

Yeah okay I think that's it for this year....

Elie Saab SS14

Ok. I'm a sucker for romantic girly dresses. If you've been following my blog, you would've seen romantic wedding gowns, mermaid/fishtail dresses and Marchesa.

Anyways Elie Saab has just released his Spring/Summer 2014 Couture collection (which you can view here) and HOMAIGAWDDD... it's an ethereal fairytale garden with splashes of romance and happily ever after.

Here are some of my favorites :)

 Pockets in dresses! Brilliant!

 Can someone spell ethereal goddess?
Can't say the same for her expression though.

Ahhhh so pretty

I love how this is so girly elegant

Greek goddesses aren't afraid to show off a little leg

Love the juxtaposition of dark and girly florals

OMG SUPER LOVE!!! I think she looks like a deadly nightshade about to bloom.
Delicate yet dangerous.
But you can't help but want to get closer to it.

Black's always a timeless color.
I love the hemline embellishment.
Gorgeous. Simply gorgeous.

The man himself, Elie Saab. Thank you so much for this gorgeous collection!!!

Golden Globe garb!

I don't know about you but I really love awards season because of all the dresses.

Now I'm no fashionista and I do have pretty traditional/regular tastes so nothing too out there....

Anyways here are some of my favorite ones for the Golden Globes :)

Jenna Dewan-Tatum looks absolutely gorgeous in this fish-tail dress. I love how the black bits help accentuate her figure and makes the dress look so delicate.

I do not believe that this woman is 50. Seriously? Look at that skin! *sigh*

Oh I LOVE how Sarah Hyland's dress looks so proper and demure up front... and it's all cool and sexy from the back!

Okay it took me a while to figure out what the pink prints were... my first few guesses were a bunch of umbrellas, then some flamingoes. But aww look at that glow!

I'm more in love with her look than her dress.
Okay fine her dress does kinda blend in with the red carpet but doesn't she just look super sizzling hot?

The Ice Queen doing what she does best. Smoulder people with her stare.

Okay, I'm not like a major fan of Hayden but I think she looks absolutely demure here. I love how the asymmetrical pattern on her dress forces you to look at her. Gorgeous.

Giuliana looking radiant as always. I love major tulle dresses. Makes me feel like some princess or ballerina.

Okay I'm not sure who she is but she does remind me of Winona Ryder here with that dark brown bob, porcelain skin and a tinge of rouge.

Update: Her name is Michelle Dockery. Still doesn't ring a bell for me. I have to google her up but she looks gorgeous and that's all I care for this post :P

Bombshell Sofia Vergara doesn't have to do much but I must say I am very intrigued by how her statement necklace complements her simple black dress.

Love love love it! *runs out to get some statement necklaces a pronto!*

Zosia Mamet's got this lovely floral dress thingie that reminds me of Jenna Dewan-Tatum's. I think I like Jenna's more but I would probably be able to pull this one off better :(

Yeah and these are my two least favorites. And the only reason why I'd even put them in here because usually love and agree with their styles

Drew... seriously, what were you thinking?

Whomsoever responsible for this dress, should be put on probation. There's a thin line between simple sophistication and lazy. I call this lazy.

And I'm out!

So what defines you?

First post of the year and I am compelled by Lizzie Velasquez

This determined and cheerful young woman suffers from a super rare disease that has so far affected only three people (herself included) where they have no body fat. Like... None. At. All.

Her question during a recent TED Talk prompted me to think really hard. Lizzie asked "What defines you?"

And it's really gotten me thinking. It's been about half an hour since I've watched this video and I still can't really figure out what defines me. Good one, and thank you Lizzie.

So I've decided let's start from the beginning...

As a young girl, what defined me was that I was a very good pianist, I spoke fluent English (coming from an Asian family living in South East Asia), I had good manners and my father had passed away.

Then in my teens, what defined me was how I was a struggling student. I wasn't an idiot. But I just wasn't that all interested in learning things in school and regurgitating how it works during exams. My friends were all doing well. I just couldn't entirely be bothered until my major finals.

College years were a little more fun for me. I was among the elite students and party girl that no one could mess with. College was surprisingly very easy for me so I graduated with a 3.75 GPA. I barely had to make an effort to succeed (the total opposite of secondary school) and spent a lot of time out partying, and that was what defined me.

Similarly in university, I only had to do two core units to pass and I kid you not when I say they were relatively easy units. So to fill up the rest of the credits, I decided to take things that I couldn't and wouldn't usually take up such as Myths & Legends, Film & Video, Third Year Japanese. But what was it that defined me then? I don't know. The girl who put on 20lbs within 6 month? The one who came with a twin attached? The girl who really loved bacon?

Then when I first started working - I had the whole notion that I'm gonna make it big. I'm going to be successful. I'm going to be the best writer the world has seen (we all know it's not true now hahaha) and I'm not going to let anything bring me down.

Unfortunately my first job was incredibly taxing, so much so that I learnt to bottle things up and just get my job done. In the next few other jobs, I faced a similar problem with my superiors - the typical Asian-ness where the bosses are always right and you're never. Speak when you're spoken to. Don't get too chummy because I'm not your friend.

As you can see... I have lost my definition the moment I started transitioning into an adult. It is here that I realize I'm not special. I don't have special skills, or at least none that can propel me above the rest.

But after writing all these stuff down... I think I realize what defines me. This may change, but change is the only constant, no? :)

What defines me is how big my heart is.

And I think that's good enough for me, thanks for your question, Lizzie xxx
