L'oreal INOA

I went up for the launch in Gentings earlier today for the launch and I must say, I was impressed... by the fact that it has no more ammonia that is... not by the hair show :P

It was my first hair fashion show/launch so I was pretty excited about the whole thing. But I have to say one thing... I really don't get hair fashion shows....

But I do know, I'm thinking of having my hair colored now!

Anyways here are some pix for you!!!

I like how they used the brand as part of the equalizers.

After some opening performances, the 12 finalists (hairstylists) came out for a show down!

The crowd that was there. Imagine the number of salons that had to close for the day! Btw, this is just the view on my right.

See what I mean when I say I don't get hair fashion? I mean, seriously???

And it gets worse.....

And this was by some superstar hairstylist from Japan. I mean all he did was add a blonde hair piece, sprayed a lot of stuff on her hair, tweaked it (as if it wasn't messy enough) and added fairy lights to her hair... I really just don't get it

Third day and I'm swamped

When the editor approached me, she did mention that there is a lot to do and she needed someone urgently.
Like, everyone says that. All the time. I mean, come on, who the heck is going out to try to hire someone and say "Oh we're not in a hurry... take your time, we're not that busy..."
I just didn't realize HOW busy and urgently they needed an extra hand.
So on top of my columns, I have someone elses column (which is something totally NOT my thang) to do... and I just got plonked with some invoicing stuff to do as well... SO this is like a shit load and I'm literally up to my neck with work...
Don't get me wrong, I'm not pissed or anything... just pretty much overwhelmed at the moment that's all...

My first day

I started my new job today. I am now officially part of the Malaysian Women's Weekly team :)

Gosh it's so exciting... and I've got tons to do...

Work load is a lot... since I'm doing about 5 columns all together... but it's great fun. I can't wait to be really familiarized with the whole process and really get to do what I want to do and add my touch to the magazine.

Colleagues... are alright. So far my editor is the best around. The others (who has been there for at least 4 years and more) aren't entirely friendly, which is a tad odd... It's a bit like they're testing me or wanting to see what kind of a person I am before getting close to me... oh well...

Sucky bits - parking is a big fat hassle. Starbucks is right across the road (someone spell caffeine dependency). Work mates aren't the friendliest in the world. No access to my emails or social networking sites (except for off office hours).

Great bits - I'm working for a magazine!!! I have my own columns!!!

No longer....

Am I bound to doing corporate work for you :P

I am free!!!!

Baroness Schraeder

I remember watching classic musicals like The Sound of Music, Oliver! and The King and I with my grandmother all the time and we'd sing along and dance to it.

I never realized it until I saw The Sound of Music again recently, that how much of my choices of things were influenced by movies that I saw when I was a child.

I loved the Baroness' dress during the dinner party. Well of course since Maria wore a really simple dress made it look even nicer! But it was always the fact (that as a child) she wasn't the best person in the movie. She was always in Maria's way.

But when I saw her in that dress... I realized, why I choose a certain type of style whenever I can. Of course she looks MUCH better in it and I don't have the same body type... but a girl can dream, can't she :)

Just look at that big bow thingie on her shoulder and the shimmery dress! Ohh... if only :)

The five signs

I like to read stuff like relationship advice and all that once in a while. But it does get a bit depressing at times because you get a lot of stuff like - where is your relationship going, how do you know if he's the one, is he really faithful and shit like that.
Today, I saw "The five signs he'll never cheat" and I swear, a light beamed all the way down from the heavens and shone on me. At last, a positive article to read!!!
But sadly, as I read through, it was pretty much as bad as reading those negative articles. My comments in red.
The five signs he’ll never cheat
08 Jun, 2010
If only Sandra Bullock had access to this beforehand…

1. He keeps dates and tells you where he’s been
If your partner is honest and respectful of you in one area of your relationship, it’s almost safe to say he’ll be the same in other areas. Dr Zita Weber, academic, counsellor and author of Unfaithfully Yours (New Holland, $26.95), feels that keeping commitments, such as dates, is a good indicator of the strength of your relationship.

“That’s a huge demonstration of respect that you don’t rescind on bargains and plans. With any sort of cancellation at the last hour, I think you’d have to worry about that person’s ability to commit to you and what you’re doing together.”
Well, he doesn't necessarily need to tell me where he's been since I do know his schedule. But it would be nice to get a text or something "I'm off... see you home later!" or something like that. Women like to be acknowledged. But then again it's not like it's a big deal anyways...

2. He introduces you to his friends
Awkward dating scenario #2,938: You’ve been seeing each other for a few months but he still makes excuses for you not to meet his pals.

While it’s possible that you’re so damn cool he’s worried his dorky friends might tarnish your opinion of him, it also could be that he’s worried his mates might reveal things he’s been up to behind your back. Meeting his gang is a sign that he’s serious and knows there’s nothing they could tell you about him that would make you any less crazy about him (except possibly that time he wet his pants in Year 3).
Oddly, since we do have a very large pool of mutual friends, there was not much need to really introduce each other to anyone. But he does have some friends from college days which he talks about but has never introduced me to... ho hum, not the end of the world... NEXT!!!

3. He’s never cheated in past relationships

Ideally, in a monogamous relationship, you’d want both partners to be of the mindset that cheating is unacceptable. Hopefully, if he ever felt that temptation, he’d be honest enough to admit that perhaps he wanted to break up or see other people. So if he mentions he’s never strayed and finds the mere notion hard to fathom, and he seems genuine, it could indicate that he’s not a player.

That said, he could always be lying. But if a guy admits to you that past relationships have ended because of his indiscretions, be wary – it’s possible he’s telling you this so that if he does ever cheat, he can always say, “Well, I warned you!”.
Okay see now this is the part where I start to doubt things. I have no idea if he's cheated in any of his past relationships but I know he has cheated once when we had just first started dating. He said he was confused. But after that he realized that I was the one he wanted, yadda3x. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Forgive... not entirely. Forget... trying really hard to.

4. He’s emotionally loyal to you
Being loyal isn’t just about him keeping it in his pants. It’s also about having your back in other ways. “We’ve all been in that place where you’ve really felt that this person is really committed to you,” says Weber.

“And they demonstrate that loyalty in every sort of way, such as defending you in an argument at a dinner party – even if you might be wrong. There are ways of showing people that you’re loyal to them in the emotional sense, not just the sexual sense.”
This he is. He has my back when it comes to friends and family. Much as he doesn't like family outings (I have a large family - my dad has 10 siblings and mom has 8, go figure the amount of cousins, aunts, uncles and whatnot), he does come along and he does put on his best behavior.

5. Your gut instinct says he’s trustworthy
It turns out instinct isn’t some sort of magical dishonesty detection system – it’s actually our subconscious picking up on real-life indicators. “People call it gut instinct, but it’s really clues around you that you’re osmotically picking up,” says Weber.

So, if you feel like you can trust him but can’t quite pinpoint why, it’s most likely because you’ve actually been subconsciously noticing all the actions he’s been doing that demonstrate he’s a committed and trustworthy guy.
This is the worst part. My gut tells me that I love him but do not trust him entirely. This whole one just trumped every other sign. *sigh*

Malaysian Mentality

There's been quite a huge uproar recently in Malaysia after reading about the fatal accident which happened last week. For those who didn't hear about it, you can read it here.

Here's a short version:
a) An accident involving two cars and a 3-tonne vegetable lorry
b) An unfortunate female driver was pinned in the wreckage burnt to her death.
c) Passer-bys were unable to help because the flames were too strong
d) One brave man sped off to the nearest petrol kiosk to get a fire extinguisher but was refused by the attendants.

Many Malaysians are bloody effing pissed with those two attendants. I am too. Isn't it time we all grew up and stopped pointing fingers though?

Yes, it is extremely heartbreaking and unfortunate to hear the news of this young lady whom so many wanted to help but couldn't and yet these two who had four extinguishers refused.

And not to make any other people more riled up than they already are, but who is to say that if the guy HAD gotten the extinguisher it could've saved that young woman's life?

Here's my two cents.
Let's recap, but put ourselves in their shoes.

You're a gas attendant working the graveyard shift. Luckily you have a co-worker with you tonight. Not that bad. You spend the night talking and puffing on ciggies to get through the shift. Thoughts run through your mind - especially the stories of other gas attendants who were robbed and or attacked in the wee hours of the morning.

Then all of a sudden, a man drives frantically up towards the kiosk. His tyres screech to a halt. You and your co-worker immediately look up. Your heart skips a beat. Could this be a robber?

The man bangs on the glass window and asks for a fire extinguisher. He says there's a girl trapped in a wrecked car and the car is on fire. This is a life and death situation. The man seems all frantic and antsy.

Now this is the part I (and probably 99% of Malaysians) think what went wrong.

I understand that there were previous cases of robberies at that spot before. So I don't blame them for the caution. I would've told him to call the fire department (as one of them did) too. In fact, I would've gotten details from him AND made the phone call myself.

What I don't understand is, why couldn't they have given him an extinguisher. He's already shown them his IC. Ok fine, that could be fake. He even offered to buy an extinguisher from them.

Now tell me, what kind of robber does that?

I know, that if I were there for a fact, I would have made sure one of us (the gas attendants) held on to ONE fire extinguisher and set it ready while the other, slowly opens the door and passes it out to the frantic man.

I know a lot of you must be thinking "Yeah, right as if you can even remain calm in situations like these,"

You know what?

You can shut your pie hole because I have been through shit like these before and I have remained calm while others didn't.

My house was once broken into. My sister and I were lazing in my room (thank goodness the room door was locked) after a long day and our two housemates had gone out clubbing.

All of a sudden, we heard someone walking around in the hall, and it was a completely different set of foot steps. My sister panicked, and she started to whimper and cry. I gathered anything that I could use as weapons onto the bed just in case the intruders came in.

I managed to call the police, report to them calmly what is going on and that I really need help. And called friends who were living nearby to come over as soon as they could.

The police finally came. My entire house was ransacked. They took away the usual stuff and there were footprints right outside my room door. The police told us we were lucky that they didn't barge in and hurt us. He also commended me on acting calm during the whole thing because it helped them to do their job properly.

Mind you, I was a student at that time living in a foreign country so don't tell me two MEN in their own country cannot act rationally when there is someone in trouble.

My deepest condolences goes out to Florina's family.
May this be a (very expensive) lesson for all Malaysians to learn.

my new wishlist

I compiled a wishlist earlier this year and I'm pretty glad to say that I've already gotten half of it.

I have my mezzaluna... my HP Mini... and a few dresses.

Am still short of shopping vouchers, more dresses, a nice pair of boots (or two) and a free holiday.

Anyways here's to updating my wish list.

Victoria's Secret Pure Seduction collection.

I was using the body butter (not in pic) last year and now I'm finishing up on the ultra moisturizing hand and body cream. I need more!!!

Bunny ears/outfit

All I have right now, is a pair of bunny ears hair band and a pin-on tuft tail which I bought from a toy shop in Perth. I need something less kiddy.

Hand-held blender

Yes, one too many shows on the AFC has led me to believe that I need this. But think about it. It IS bloody handy! Besides think of all the stuff I can be whirring for breakfasts, lunches and dinners!!!

Pisces woman & Scorpio man

PISCES WOMAN

She likes to be in a dream world than to be in reality. She is weak and sensitive when it's come to "Love". She can cry if her best friend is breaking up, and she can be over excited when her friend gets a new boy friend that is a good looking and rich even it is nothing concerned her at all. You might be surprise to see that she is shy just because she is in love. More or less it will be in Pisces woman. She loves small animals and is gifted in training animals.
She has six senses and she can guess what will happen next, it's her nature. Even she has a good sixth sense, she can not pick or foreseen her own choice of lover. She can not tell if she meet a sincere guy or a one night stand guy.

She likes to buy and pick her own clothes. She likes to dress cute and be cute. The Pisces woman tends to be a good looking and has nice skin. Her hands and feet are small and soft. The Pisces woman loves to shop for shoes as if she collects them. She is a hot lady and everyone wants her. Whether she has a man in her life or not, she will never try to over power any man. It is not even in her thought.

She thinks men can handle things better, and she will make her man feel that way. She is an easy going person. She is a confident woman and likes to make people who stay with her happy. She knows how to please and how to comfort a man. If something is wrong, she will try to make other people believe that it's must be because of someone else, not because of her loved one. She will not push her man to be ambitious but to make him feel like he should be happy with the way he is now. She is happy with you for what you are now.

A Pisces woman, if she has a bad childhood, she will always remember it and it will make her a very unhappy person. She will pity herself and feel sorry for herself. She tends to hurt herself with out knowing it and so she is vulnerable to drugs. She has many choices and you can never tell which path she going to take. If you love her, then hold her tight because she never knows why she did what she did or what she will do next.

A complex character. You may think she is a shy innocent type and can not hurt anyone, then you are wrong. You might think she is a fragile person who needs protection, wrong again. She has been through a lot, a tough cookie. She is a dreamer and loves the word "Love", so she is the type who will buy gift for anyone for any occasion, especially if it is a gift for wedding or an anniversary even for someone who she does not know so well.

Be very careful if fall in love with Pisces woman. She can be a total different person before and after. She can be an angel before and a witch after, but everyone is not perfect, right? She will be soft and gentle most of the time, so not to worry. She is emotional and extremely sensitive when she frequently gets hurt. She is the type who can cry her heart out.

She can have a secret fear inside, when she says she does not need anyone. She badly needs someone to protect her, but sometimes she can hide that feeling by being stubborn. She likes to hide her shyness and her weakness from her enemy. She does not like to follow any fixed rules. She can be a good housewife if you know how to handle her.

Many men will ask to marry her because she is a 100% woman. If she wants to be sweet, she is a real angel.

SCORPIO MAN

A man with foggy clouds over him. He is sensitive and easily hurt and always feels lonely. He does not trust anyone but himself. Sounding so negative, but he has an amazing charisma. He is a compassionate man. He absorbs other people’s sentimental feelings and pain.
He is a good psychiatrist and he could understand complex and confused feeling. He has a hidden power that he could use it to make things happen and do things well. He does not like people who never try to help themselves before asking other people for favors. He is the type of guy who mostly achieved his goal in life. Once he sets his mind for something, he will put all his energy and efforts in it, whether or not it is a small matter or a big project. One of the most success men in the entire Zodiac.

He is a very patient man and can waits for years to reach his goal. He hates thin feelings and weak determinations. He can not retreat or rest for long, for he thinks life has more questions and more answer to be searched.

If he is in love, you will get plenty of love from him, sometimes may be too much than you have asked for. He is serious about love and relationship and will not waste time with someone he does not love whether how pretty she is.

He hardly makes mistakes. He could tell if you have any bad thought, and will not hesitate to tell you so. If you do not like straight forward sincere man, then pack your bag now. If you are an over sensitive person, try not to ask for his comments. He will tell you the truth; even you might not be able to take it. Example, if you ask him if you are fat (and you are fat), he will say "yes, as big as a balloon". He makes such comments because he cares for you, so do something about your weight and do not get up set with him.

If he says "you look pretty today", you can be proud because he will not say such think just to please you if he does not really mean it. There will be both kind of people, those who like him and those who hate him. If you are in love this guy, be strong and belief in your decision, do not be vulnerable. He remembers all his anger and will wait for his pay back time. He is very serious about your promise; do not promise something you could not keep. He loves his friends and will do anything for his close friends. He likes you to take care of him, but not in front of his friend. He is a complex man and you will never understand what he means if you do not really know him. He is happy to know he is a complex figure. When he is thinking or when he needs his privacy, you should give him some space.

He memorize everything well. You may say something that you already forgotten, but he will remember every word. He wants to be respected and admired and at the same time he does not like people to have power over him.

When he falls in love, he really falls deep. A man in this Zodiac once in love, he will be sweeter than sugar. He does not like a plain and simple woman. A complex woman's mind is his venture. He does not like a woman who sits around waiting for his call. He is always an interesting person and you will be able to talk to him about every thing and anything.

rainy day

It's a public holiday today... and well since we woke up early, we got quite a bit done too.

Went out for food, did grocery shopping, cleaned the kitchen, prepared the beef for meatballs, made a big pot of green tea, cuddled the kids, sent the clothes to the laundry.

Then about 4-ish I felt a little peckish. Because we usually don't go out of the house that early in the day.

We usually leave about 1 or 2 in the afternoon, grab some food and run a couple of errands. So since we had food like, 3 hours earlier than usual I was already a bit hungry.

I rummage through the pantry and guess what I find? Pancake mix!

Fluffy buttermilk pancakes with Vanilla ice cream and strawberry + apricot jelly. Yum!

What a way to spend a rainy day

Aglio e Olio

My cousin sister in law makes fantastic Aglio e Olio and it's made me always wanting to make good Aglio e Olio.

So one day, I bought Swiss Brown and white button mushrooms and a pack of streaky bacon hoping to cook Aglio e Olio.

Then I realized I had no chilli flakes.

So I made this instead.

Angel hair pasta with sauteed mushrooms and bacon. Topped off with a generous serving of freshly grated Parmesan cheese and basil leaves for garnishing.

Went out shopping later in the evening and found chilli flakes, so this was dinner.

Align CenterBacon Aglio e Olio with grilled zucchini topped off with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and basil for garnishing.

Not too bad. But definitely room for improvement!

Iron Man 2 OST

I entered another ruumz comp for an Iron Man 2 OST CD and poster. Few weeks after, I got an email saying that I've won...yay!!!!

The puppy called me at work saying I've got mail and thinks it's the Iron Man 2 CD I won. And I was thinking how on earth did they fit a poster in my mail box.

When I got home... this is what I saw

Yes that's me!!!!

Wait, that's no poster and what the heck is Madonna doing in my mail?!?!

OMG seriously?! First of all, at least give me her newest album. Not one that came out in 1984! Secondly, at least give me a brand new CD. Not one that has no plastic covering, and NOT ONE THAT HAS SCRATCHES ON THE BACK COVER!!! geez...

the title says it all.....

Sometimes in life you just can't help but wonder why do some people have all the bloody luck in the world....

I live with one of those lucky people. I seriously do not want to sound bitter or anything about it... but seriously?!?!

First he gets a second lease on life - he gets to pursue what he dreams of doing and his family is supportive... mentally, spiritually AND financially.

Secondly, he doesn't have to worry - financially, that is. Family is there to back him up.

Thirdly, he gets to do what he likes as "work" where the rest of us have to actually work whether we like it or not.

THEN, he gets an iPhone. Does he have to pay for it? Nope. And it's a 32GB 3GS version...

The cherry on top of the sundae is... what he just IMed me on gtalk....

puppy
zarim just called me he's gonna be putting my name down for a local reality show about producers kinda like AF but for producers, not singers so we'll produce for artists and compete to on a production level

bunny
wow cool HAHAHAHAHAH so from rocker... to producer... to actor... to reality tv star? :P

You seriously have got to be kidding me..... SERIOUSLY?!?!?!

I have to start wearing pants

Yes that's true. Sadly but true. I got violated in the comforts of my own home this morning.

I had left a pile of plates in the kitchen sink last night because I was a bit too lazy to get to them.

This morning, I woke up about 9-ish. Washed up, tied my hair and went to the kitchen to do the dishes in the kitchen sink.

When I was done, I realized that I had forgotten about the pan which was still sitting on the stove. So I turned around to get it and went back to the sink.

Half way washing the pan I had the compulsion to turn around which I thank my stars that I did!

There was a guy with a camera phone, leaning in towards my kitchen window trying to take a pic of me in my underwear!

I got a good look at him. Gave him the angry stare and yelled out "What do you think you're doing, you fuck face?!" he of course was flipped out of his mind, and quickly ran off towards the lift.

I then called out for the puppy and told him that some creep was trying to take a pic of me arse through the kitchen window. After a bit, he heard someone creeping about and quietly trying to open the doors in one of the nearby units so he snuck out to check it out.

He found four bucks lying on the ground near our unit. So we're pretty sure the guy lives nearby. One of these days if I bump into him he's gonna get it from me....
Duds and Peeks with the four bucks mommy made daddy found. We treated ourselves to Starbucks with that hahaha...

Am I traumatized by this incident? Not entirely. He must either be some really down in the dumps or in such desperation to actually have snuck up to my window, leaned over the railings to try to take a pic of my back.

Pissed, yes. If I see him I want to kick him in the balls. But, we'll see....

big bad burger part III

Almost two years ago, I stumbled across this article about a Quad burger and I remember telling the puppy that I would like to try it - yes I know, I have really bad eating habits but then again it's not like I do it all the time.

And then I remembered pondering on whether or not I should do it or how I would want to make my own burger.

Never got round to doing it.

FINALLY got around to making our own burgers. Beef patties, bacon, swiss cheese, grilled egg plant, sauteed onions and mushrooms on french bread with wedges on the side.

This is how it went

I made beef patties with chopped up basil, rosemary, garlic and shallots mixed with seasoning and breadcrumbs

Then pan fried/seared the patties. Mistake here was using a griddle pan. Should always use a flat pan so that the meat cooks with the juices making it nice and moist.

Filling. Grilled egg plant, pan fried bacon (nice and cripsy) and sauteed onions and mushrooms. These really complemented the meat very well.

Wedges baking in the oven. Cut the potatoes length wise then drizzle some olive oil over before you sprinkle wedge spice powder over. Toss them well and just chuck them in the oven to bake for a good 30 mins or so. Remember to take them out halfway and move them around so that they bake evenly.

The finished product. I layered my burger with the grilled egg plant, first beef patty, sauteed onions and mushrooms, swiss cheese, second beef patty, ketchup, mustard and topped it off with a layer of bacon.

Ariel の成人の日,

Ariel has always been the baby of the family. She's always had Byte to care and protect her. This incident is her 成人の日(coming of age).

We recently discovered that she had some sort of rash on her back and it was getting kinda red and patchy. Checked it out online, it could be fungus... ring worm... or just a rash. We didn't want to take the chance, so we isolated her from Byte (so that Byte doesn't get it too) and took her to the vet.

This is her in her isolation cage. Poor baby wasn't used to it at first but kinda liked the privacy of her own 'room' after a bit :P

She was scared but put on a brave front. Poor little baby had to go through a scrape test... and at first she was ok with it until it started to get a little tender and raw, poor baby started to wheek.

Anyways, good news, it's just a rash. Nothing like a medicated shampoo and anti-bacterial cream to take care of it.

Her medicated shampoo, anti-bacterial cream and medical bill.

All we have to do is to bathe her about once a week and apply anti-bacterial cream for her twice a day... *phew* thank goodness it's nothing too serious!!!

Hehehe Ariel having her first bath!

my creepy parking neighbor

It all started sometime early this year. I kept bumping into this guy who parks right next to me in the parking lot in the mornings. So since we park next to each other and see each other sometimes, we smile and nod our heads at each other.

Then one day, on my way to work, I saw a piece of paper stuck at my car door window. I walked closer and it was his calling card and he had written on it "Your neighbour"

At that point I tried to think of it as kind of like a nice gesture, he was trying to be friendly, that sorta thing. At the same time, alarms kinda went off in my head. So I asked a guy friend for his thoughts and which btw he blogged about it. Read it here.

In the end, out of courtesy (and naïveity I suppose) I emailed him to say hi and to introduce myself... and that was it. I haven't seen or heard from him since.

Yesterday morning, I realized that he has parked his car in the inside parking, because as I was walking from the lift lobby past the parking lot to get to the porch, his car drove by and stopped for me (and some other residents) at the pedestrian crossing. So since I recognized him, I just nodded and smiled.

Do you know what he did?

When I got to the car, I noticed a car stopping in front of mine. I look up and it was him. He had STOPPED HIS CAR. WOUND THE WINDOWS DOWN. YELLED OVER "HI CLAIRE!"

A little flattered but creeped out at the same time. I just flashed him a smile and said "Morning!" and got into my car a pronto!

Today... I get an email from him which reads "Hi... nice to see you again yesterday, we should meet for a drink sometime."

*facepalm*

Apa Dosa Ku

The tele-drama premiered earlier today on ASTRO Citra (Channel 131) at 9pm and will be featured every Wednesday on the same channel at the same time.

Puppy and I purposely subscribed to the Mustika package just so that we can watch it (Red Comm, we're still waiting for our DVD sets :P).

His scene during the Sook Ching massacre is featured in the opening credits so that's kinda cool.

Here they're prepping up for the Sook Ching massacre scene. The shot of him used for the opening credits is from this part where the Japanese general tries to rough him up but he resists their threats.

So yeah, we're waiting for the next few episodes to see his scenes on the silver screen!!!!

baby Cherrie and me

Finally got to visit baby Cherrie... OMG she's just SOOO adorable (yes I'm being all clucky/broody/whatever you call it)

She's kinda boring though. All she does is sleep... scream... have some milk... stare at you for a bit... look a bit confused... sleep....

That's her right after a nap. She looks very confused because I've been kinda shoving Poppy in her face :P

Cherrie Wong

The long awaited arrival of Miss Cherrie Wong has finally come!!!

My cousin's wife Esther gave birth to a bouncing 3.3kg bub at 2.50pm

Oh I'm so excited. Seriously, of all my cousins having kids, this one means a shit load to me.

Why?

I grew up with this guy. He was always hanging out at my place and we were like brother and sister. Always running around, sneaking off to arcades, doing stuff we weren't supposed to, making weird foods - basically just being kids

And now he's a father....

I think I'm going to cry!

Marie France Bodyline Free Trial Session

I saw this thing from Marie France in The Star on Monday - text in for a free trial session and since I just got a free sample Dermalogica set I thought what the heck, let's try and see if I get any more free stuff.

Sure enough, by Wednesday a representative called me up and set up an appointment for me today at their Uptown outlet.

Their reception counter. I expected something fancier though...

It was my first time ever going to a slimming centre and well let's face it, I was more curious than anything else.

So I get there in the morning at 11.30 and fill up some forms, answer some questions, got my weight and height measured and of course my body parts.

Good news :
a) my BMI is good. It's only at 20.9 (for those who have no idea what it is, click here to read and learn to calculate your own BMI. It's basically taking your weight divided by your height squared)
b) she measured my body and my Waist-Hip Ratio is good too although she didn't tell me what the number was.......
c) My fatty bits are mostly in my jelly belly and front thighs so I don't actually need that much work done

Bad news :
a) My recommended package included a whole bunch of nonsense which amounted to 2288MYR
b) She was BLOODY pushy, I mean, I haven't even gone in for my free trial session to see if I like it or not and she was pushing me to sign up for one of their gazillion packages
c) I'm just here for the free trial session. End of discussion.

So anyways in the end, I went in for my free trial session.

Cam-whoring while waiting for the lady to come in and zap me

First they zapped me

I only took pix of the machine and the thingamajiggas cuz, well, it wasn't a pretty sight. My thighs were literally 'jumping' up and down with every shock. There was a point towards the end when my left thigh actually started to cramp up... bah

Then they wrapped me

They wrapped these bandages which were soaked with some sorta special solution and it was warm. About 2 rounds of that around my waist and my hip and then it was cling wrap all over to keep it warm.

At the end of it?
I felt... normal. There was no overwhelming experience. It wasn't like I had just come out from heaven or anything like that.

Well I did feel a bit of tingly legs from all that zapping and a slight burning sensation on my derrière because during the wrap, some of the liquid oozed out and slowly dripped down.

Oh well, it was all in the name of adventure and good fun!!!

Pleasa... thank youa

Magic World Test

Got this ppt file from a colleague... did it... weird as it is, any way I do it, it always ends up with the same answer.

Coincidence? Or just a faulty/generic answer for everyone? Oh well.... :)

Dreams

I had a strange dream last night. At one point it was as if the puppy and I had gotten our own place cuz we were throwing some sort of shower and there were gifts everywhere.

But somehow I was just feeling rather pissed at something and decided to kill myself.
Oddly, there were two of me – a physical and a spiritual me. The physical me looked a bit ethereal, wearing a white flowy dress and had short hair (like me circa 2007 with my short bob).
She hung a noose and calmly looped it around her neck and just sat with her legs crossed as though she was meditating. The spiritual me (which was the eyes that I was looking through) gave her a push. She swung to and fro as though on a swing.

After a bit I realized it wasn’t right and that ‘someone’ was coming home soon, so I quickly ran over to the physical me and helped her off the noose. By that time she was choking already.

There was one part where I saw Tris playing with Byte. She was trying to run away but he toyed with her. Every time she made it a certain distance, he would pick her up and put her back. The poor girl was running in circles non stop trying to escape.
It pissed me. So I went over to pick her up. The poor little girl was exhausted. Her breathing was erratic and she had run so much, her eyeballs were about to pop out. *sigh*

Then my dream switched to another scene. It looked like one of those floating markets in Bangkok except that it wasn’t. Don’t ask me how I know, I just do.
There was a commotion on one end, so I inched my way through the crowds to see. Curiosity does kill the cat. All of a sudden every thing moved in slow motion. People around me moved away and were gasping and pointing at me. They looked like I just exploded.

I looked down and hmm they were right. A single stray bullet hit me in the midsection. Right below my ribcage and above my belly button. It was like I had two belly buttons.
Then everything went back to normal pace and people were screaming and running away. No one offered to help me.
Blood was gushing out of my wound. Instinctively I pressed on it to help stop the bleeding and staggered off.

I ended up in a shopping mall. My shirt was all bloodied at the midsection. There was a little burnt hole right where the bullet went through my top and into my body. My wound had stopped bleeding and I could see the bullet embedded in my stomach.

Then I woke up.

So yeah I’ll never know what happened in the end.

But here’s some interpretations of my dream.

To see your boyfriend in your dream, represents your waking relationship with him and how you feel about him.

To dream of your own death, indicates a transitional phase in your life. You are becoming more enlightened or spiritual. Alternatively, you are trying desperately to escape the demands of your daily life.

To dream that you are hanging yourself, suggests that you are trying to escape from some guilt or fear. Consider also the image as a pun for something in your life which you have left hanging or unfinished.

To see your or someone else's pet in your dream, represents civilized instincts. You are keeping your temper in line. Alternatively, it indicates a need for love and acceptance. You are lacking attention from others and are feeling neglected. The pet may also be a pun for "petting" as in some sexual behavior.

To dream of being hit by a bullet, suggests that you need to persevere and endure the difficult times.

To see a wound in your dream, is symbolic of grief, anger, and distress. You are looking to be healed. Consider the location, size and type of wound. Alternatively, the dream may be metaphor suggests that you are "wound up" or tense about some situation.

got it!

So I met up with the editor and she is offering me a job. Unfortunately, even though I have 4 years of working experience, only 1 year is of publishing, so they can't offer me the position of a full-fledged writer. What she can do is to offer me the position of a editorial coordinator and writer. This means I'll have to do some administrative stuff for the mag as well... which isn't that all bad cuz then I'll know how the magazine is run, instead of just writing or editing...

Now... the set back is... if I take it (which I will anyways) I'll be taking a 20% pay cut....

So... yeah....

good news I hope!!!!

The editor called me again this morning, she wants to meet up today after work again.

This is good news, no?

*bunny jumps around in joy*

arrrghhh

I want this new job so bad... so yeah, fashion editor, not really up my alley yet... I mean come on, I haven't even been back in the publishing line for ages, what makes me think I can even be a fashion editor?

Anyhoo, just got a call from an editor last week. Met up with her today. Apparently I made a really good impression on her the last time, it's just that she didn't see me as an editor but more of a writer, BUT there was no vacancy for that then.

Two year later, she calls up. Vividly remembers me and is really keen on getting me on her team.

I REALLLLLLYYYY hope it goes thru this time.

How coincidental

It's my 200th blog post... and it's the 555 days of the bunny and puppy

Unfortunately... I've been having nightmares again... which also I have done some research and found proof that my nightmare might come true....

So today will be our doomsday....

I have held on to my side of the deal. We promised to throw this out the window last year. And now you are sneakily bringing it back.

So if you don't hold on to yourside today... it's over

I have had enough of this emotional torture and lying...

how much more

are you going to keep hurting me?

do you want me to live like this?

do you want to keep lying to me?

am I supposed to hold on to a lie?

Tell me....

Merana

Spring cleaning out my inbox. I've got so much junk in there, and most things which I don't need anymore.

Then I came across this quote which I had kept. I have this habit of emailing things back to myself which I want to put on this blog. Just in case I forget, you know

Mak Inom : I tengok you nyenyak sangat tidur, I perasan you macam dah mati. I terfikirkan sayang, kalau you mati, I merana...

Pak Atan : Itulah... I lebih suka you mati dulu. Biar I yang merana, jangan you yang merana

Gubra, Yasmin Ahmad

Translation :
Mak Inom : I saw you sleeping so soundly, I thought you died. Then I thought my dear, if you die, I would suffer.
Pak Atan : Well, that's why I rather you die first. Let me suffer, not you
